The Granite Grill Opening in West Raleigh at GlenLake

The team behind Tazza Kitchen is bringing a new upscale casual restaurant to GlenLake this winter.

Tazza Kitchen’s owners are opening The Granite Grill in West Raleigh’s GlenLake, adding another full-service restaurant to the growing area.

West Raleigh’s GlenLake development is getting another new restaurant, and this one comes from a group already familiar to plenty of Triangle diners. Big Kitchen Hospitality, the team behind Tazza Kitchen, plans to open The Granite Grill this winter at 4251 Parklake Avenue in Raleigh.

The new full-service restaurant will land across from the new Crooked Hammock Brewery, in the growing GlenLake area near Crabtree, where Creedmoor Road turns into Edwards Mill. It’s another sign that this pocket of West Raleigh is continuing to build real momentum as a dining destination.

For locals who already know Tazza Kitchen from its Village District and Cary locations, the names behind the new project won’t be unfamiliar. Partner John Davenport said the company has been looking for the right way to keep investing in the Raleigh market after more than a decade in the area.

“Tazza Kitchen has been a part of the Raleigh community for over twelve years. We opened at Village District in 2014, and followed with our second location at Stone Creek Village in Cary in 2016. We have a tenured and talented team here and have been looking to continue our investment in the area,” Davenport said. “We share in the continued interest and buzz around West Raleigh, along with Crooked Hammock, Jeff’s Bagel Run, and Wong’s Tacos.”

The Granite Grill is being described as an upscale casual restaurant with a neighborhood feel—something polished enough for a business lunch or date night, but still relaxed enough for a weeknight burger and cocktail. Plans call for comfortable booths, an energetic bar, patio seating, and a private dining room for groups and special events.

The menu will lean into familiar crowd-pleasers, including grilled seafood, steaks, signature burgers, hearty salads, and specialty entrées, while the bar will focus on classics like Old Fashioneds, martinis, and margaritas.

The restaurant will span 5,135 square feet and include seating for 147 inside, including 19 bar seats, plus a private dining room for up to 28 people. The patio is expected to add about 50 more seats. Once open, The Granite Grill plans to serve lunch Tuesday through Sunday and dinner every night.

Skip Hill of Highwoods said the addition aligns with GlenLake’s broader push to create a more destination-like environment in West Raleigh.

“We are thrilled to welcome The Granite Grill to our curated collection at GlenLake,” Hill said. “By intentionally crafting environments and experiences for our customers and the community, we continue to build a truly commute-worthy destination.”

The original Granite Grill opened in Richmond last November. The Raleigh location marks the second for the concept. Big Kitchen Hospitality, founded in 2013, also operates Tazza Kitchen’s six locations across Virginia and the Carolinas, along with Richmond’s Conejo Cocina.
