MEXICAN FUN. The Tacos ‘N Taps festival takes place at Koka Booth Amphitheatre on Saturday, April 6, noon–5 p.m. The event is all-you-care-to-taste, offering the Triangle’s best tacos and Mexican food. Enjoy music, dancing, margaritas, piñata punching, contests and more. Souvenir glasses are available for samples of more than 60 craft beers, mezcals and tequilas. Tickets start at $39. 

GARNER OUTING. April Foods Day Food Truck Rodeo takes place at 120 East Main Street in Garner on Friday, April 5, 6–10 p.m. Vendors and food trucks are welcome to join the rodeo. FOODIE ALERT. The Makrs Society presents Raleigh Foodie Fare at Raleigh Iron Works (1101 E. Whitaker Mill Road/2200 Atlantic Avenue, Raleigh) on Saturday, April 6, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. The monthly foodie and art market features more than 30 local vendors, a food truck rodeo and drinks. Enjoy live music and more at the free event.  

 

FINE VOCALISTS. Master Chorale Goes to the Movies takes place at Raleigh’s Rialto Theatre on Saturday, April 6 at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Enjoy theater popcorn, drinks and concessions while the Master Chorale performs classic songs from the history of cinema, covering early MGM films, Henry Mancini, James Bond, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Disney and Star Wars.

 

SUMMER WORK. Partnership Raleigh is offering paid hybrid internships for college students that run Thursday, June 6–Friday, August 9. The program is for those interested in carrying out the goals of Raleigh’s Community Climate Action Plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, address climate equity and build community resilience. Partnership Raleigh is also offering an eight-week paid conservation internship from Monday, June 17–Friday, August 9.

PEACEFUL EASTER. Dorothea Dix Park hosts Self-Care Sunday: Sound Bath at the Chapel (1030 Richardson Drive, Raleigh) on Sunday, March 31, 2–3:30 p.m. Enjoy an afternoon of deep relaxation, soothing your mind, body and soul. The event is led by Jana Campbell of Sound Sanctuary. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, a thick yoga mat or a towel to be comfortable while laying or sitting. Online registration is required.

 

FISH ON FRIDAY. The Apex Lions Annual Fish Fry takes place at the C. C. Jones Community Building (309 Holleman Street) on Friday, April 5, 11 a.m.–6:30 p.m. The event, which benefits those in need in the Apex community, is eat-in or carry out. Adult all-you-care-to-eat (dine-in only) tickets are $14, and the kids’ plate (ages 6 and under) is $6. Tickets are available online and at the door.

 

LIVE FROM THE 80s. Adam Ant with Special Guest The English Beat comes to the Durham Performing Arts Center on Friday, April 12 at 8 p.m. Adam and the Ants came on the scene in 1980, bridging the sound between pop and punk. The English Beat had hits including “Save It for Later” and “Mirror in the Bathroom.” Tickets start at $39.50.

NEW ARTIST. Singer-songwriter Bella White performs at the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. The 22-year-old from Calgary, Alberta is supporting her debut album, “Just Like Leaving.” The performance is part of PineCone’s 2024 Down Home Concert Season. Tickets range from $18–$45.

 

CHEESE, PLEASE. The Pimento Cheese Festival is headed to Downtown Cary Park on Saturday, April 13, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. More than 50 food vendors will line Academy Street to serve their regular menus, along with new dishes that feature the Southern delicacy. Enjoy live music and local breweries, then try your hand in a pimento cheese sculpting contest.

TOP-RANKED TALENT. The Duke Blue Devils softball team, ranked No. 4 in the country, hosts No. 12 Virginia Tech for a three-game series at Duke Softball Stadium from Thursday, March 28–Saturday, March 30. The Thursday game starts at 6 p.m. and includes autographs after the game. The Friday start time is 6 p.m., and Saturday’s game begins at 1 p.m. General admission tickets are $7 and available online.
