Vets to Vets United Celebrates Veterans and Their Service Dogs
November 1 @ 2:00 pm
Vets to Vets United will celebrate a new class of graduating veterans and their service dogs on Sunday, November 1, at the Hilton Durham near Duke University. The Durham-based nonprofit pairs veterans living with physical and emotional disabilities, including PTSD and traumatic brain injuries, with rescued dogs that undergo two years of specialized training alongside their handlers. The free, family-friendly ceremony will feature the official capping and vesting of the service dogs, a POW/MIA remembrance ceremony, musical selections and stories of perseverance and companionship. A complimentary reception with light refreshments will follow.
