Andretti Indoor Karting Opens in Durham

The new entertainment hub features racing, VR, and arcade games, with grand opening events, giveaways, and student discounts

Durham’s entertainment scene is about to get a serious boost of adrenaline.

On May 19, Andretti Indoor Karting & Games will officially open its first North Carolina location, bringing a massive, all-in-one playground of speed, games, and nightlife energy to 4857 Topgolf Way. The 90,000-square-foot venue, located right beside Topgolf, marks the company’s 14th location nationwide. And its arrival in the Triangle isn’t just about high-speed thrills—it carries a deeper meaning tied to family, legacy, and community impact.

“We’re thrilled to open our 14th location in beautiful Durham,” says managing member Eddie Hamann. “North Carolina holds a very special place in our hearts as it was the home of John Andretti, a beloved member of our family who sadly lost his tough battle against colon cancer several years ago. Not only are we looking forward to opening our doors to the community, but this celebration will also honor John’s legacy.”

That sense of purpose will be felt from day one. Before the doors officially open to the public at 4 p.m., the venue will host an RSVP-only sneak preview starting at 11 a.m. A total of 1,200 guests who secure spots online will get a first look at the space—with complimentary racing, attractions, and arcade play, plus the chance to meet members of the Andretti family during an autograph session. RSVP slots will roll out in waves beginning May 7, with 100 spots released daily at 9 a.m.

The celebration continues well beyond opening day. On May 21, college students across the area can tap into a 20% discount on karting, attractions, and bowling with a valid student ID—and if they purchase a race, they’ll also score a one-hour arcade card. Then on May 23, early birds will be rewarded again, as the first 100 guests receive an hour of free arcade play for a future visit. That same day includes a raffle with a grand prize of a free birthday party valued at up to $500, plus additional giveaways such as a year of free arcade play for 10 winners.

But beyond the lights, sounds, and competition, the Durham location is also tying its opening into a larger cause. Guests will have multiple opportunities to support the #CheckIt4Andretti initiative, a campaign launched by the Andretti family to raise awareness around colorectal cancer screenings. The program also helps fund screenings for high-risk, low-income individuals who may not otherwise have access. Visitors can contribute by rounding up purchases or by buying branded items like $5 pins or lanyards, with all proceeds going toward the cause.

Inside, the venue is designed to be equal parts playground and social hub. The centerpiece is a multilevel track featuring high-speed electric Superkarts, but that’s just the beginning. Guests will also find a sprawling arcade, professional racing simulators, immersive attractions like Hologate VR and Hyperdeck VR, a two-story laser tag arena, Spark Interactive Duckpin Bowling, and a 7D motion theater experience that leans into sensory overload in the best possible way.

It’s also built with versatility in mind. With eight private event spaces spanning 8,000 square feet, the facility is positioned to host everything from birthday parties to corporate outings, accommodating groups as small as 10 or as large as 2,000.

For Durham—and really the entire Triangle—this isn’t just another entertainment venue opening its doors. It’s a high-energy addition to a region that continues to grow into a destination for locals and visitors seeking experiences beyond the ordinary. And with a blend of racing, gaming, food, and purpose-driven impact, Andretti Indoor Karting & Games is arriving with more than just horsepower—it’s bringing a full-throttle experience that’s built to last.
