• SUMMER SOUNDS. Raleigh’s Summer Concert Series continues with a performance by Carpe Diem Sax Quartet at Fred Fletcher Park (820 Clay Street) on Sunday, August 17 at 5 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to the free event. The Sunday music series runs through September 21.

• TASTY TREAT. 10th & Terrace (616 South Salisbury, Raleigh) will serve delicious root beer floats to benefit Duke Children’s Hospital throughout the month of August. Choose a Classic Root Beer float (non-alcoholic) with Mug root beer and whipped cream for $6, or select the Boozy Root Beer float with vanilla-infused Svedka, Mug root beer and whipped cream for $12.

• BUY A BOAT. Carolina Fall Boat Show & Sale comes to the Jim Graham Building at N.C. State Fairgrounds from Friday, August 15-Sunday, August 17. More than 15 marine dealers representing over 50 manufacturers will come together to show remaining 2025 models and newly delivered 2026 models. Adult tickets are $9 and available online. 

• STEP RIGHT UP. Theatre Raleigh hosts Open Mic Night on Sunday, August 24, 7-9:30 p.m. in the Cabaret Theatre. Grab a drink from the bar, connect with other Triangle artists, and enjoy an impressive lineup of talent. The event is free. 

• CULTURAL FESTIVAL. CaribMask 2025, a Caribbean Carnival, takes place at City Plaza in downtown Raleigh on Saturday, August 16, noon-8 p.m. The event features international and local artists, DJs, Caribbean food, arts & crafts and more. A parade begins at noon, followed by a main stage performance after the parade. 

• A CARY CLASSIC. Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival takes place at downtown Cary Town Hall Campus on Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The event showcases more than 250 artists from across the country. Enjoy live entertainment across four stages and savor delicious offerings from more than 25 food vendors, along with a beer garden and lounge. The annual festival features Kidz Daze, including a Kidz Collectors market.

• NON-STOP MUSIC. The Big What?, a summer music festival and camp out, takes place at Shakori Hills Community Arts Center (1439 Henderson Tanyard Road, Pittsboro) from Thursday, August 21-Saturday, August 23. Burlington-based alternative band Big Something performs two sets from 9:15-11:30 p.m. each night. Bands play on two stages each day. Tickets are available online. 

• PACK PARTY. Packapalooza, N.C. State’s signature all-day block party and street festival, caps off Wolfpack Welcome Week on Hillsborough Street on Saturday, August 23, 2-10 p.m. The event brings together N.C. State students and the local community and includes more than 300 vendor booths, a performance by musical headliner Saved by the 90s, family activities, food, and all things Wolfpack. The event is free.
