Air Layering Camellias Workshop

May 2 @ 9:30 am

Love a camellia in your garden so much you wish you had another just like it? Air layering makes that possible! This propagation technique allows you to clone a mature plant—capturing its exact bloom color, form, and charm—without waiting years for a seedling to catch up. It’s also one of the most reliable ways to produce a larger, well-rooted plant with minimal stress on the parent.

Join Master Gardener Volunteer Stuart Clayman for a hands-on workshop exploring the art and science of air layering camellias. Stuart will guide you step by step through the process, from selecting the right branch and preparing the cut to applying the rooting medium and nurturing your new plant to success. Along the way, you’ll gain practical insight into camellia care, propagation timing, and transplanting best practices.

All materials are provided. You’ll practice the technique yourself and take home a camellia you’ve started—one you can watch develop roots and eventually plant in your own garden!
