“Wow! A Cow!” Book Reading

Bring your K–2nd grade readers for a special children’s reading of “Wow! A Cow!,” a beloved new picture book bringing a treasured chapter of Cary’s history to life. Cary Town Council Representative Michelle Craig will be the featured reader, and author Rene Cherny will be there to meet families. After the reading, children can enjoy a related activity inspired by the book.

Inspired by an oral history provided by David J. Martin, a Cary resident who grew up in Cary during the Depression, “Wow! A Cow!” reflects themes of resilience, community, and the lessons learned through hard and honest work. As an adult, David J. Martin was one of Cary’s first entrepreneurs, and was also a Cary Hometown Spirit Award Winner in 2014.
