Coffee and wine might not seem like a natural pairing, but when it comes to holiday stocking stuffers, they go together like mistletoe and awkward family hugs. We are big fans of coffee, wine, and beer—so this year, we went on a caffeine-fueled quest to find beans with a boozy backstory.
First stop, Raleigh’s Chapel of Bones. One of the owners also runs Ocean South Imports, a local wine distributor, so of course, we grabbed two of their roasts—one light, one dark—to cover all our morning moods.
Next up was Asheville’s Burial Beer Co., where we snagged a bag inspired by their legendary Skillet Donut Stout. Fun fact: Burial doesn’t just brew beer—they also bottle wine under their Visuals label, so they’ve got every side of the bar covered.
Then we reached out to our friend Bob Aycock, whom we met years ago at a wine influencer event. Bob traded corkscrews for coffee beans with his company, Crooner Coffee, out of Matthews, North Carolina.
And finally, we swung by Foothills Brewing Company in Winston-Salem to scoop up a bag of its house-roasted beans. They currently have three blends; we opted for the medium roast, Peruvian blend.
Each bag of coffee is $20 or less—so we found them to be perfect for stuffing stockings and fueling the caffeine cravings of every coffee-loving elf on your shelf.
