Bio-Dynamic Gardening Workshop at The Well Fed Community Garden

  • The Well Fed Community Garden 1312 Athens Drive Raleigh, NC, 27606 United States (map)

Biodynamics is a way of working with the forces of life existing in the earth, water, air, plants and animals in our gardens and farms.

This workshop will cover the basics of bio-dynamic gardening. We will also be making a biodynamic spray for attendees to take home. Please bring a container (glass or plastic jug) if you want to take some home for your garden. If you are able, please bring a cash donation ($5) to cover the costs of materials.

Beginning with a series of lectures given in 1924 by Rudolf Steiner, a gifted scientist, philosopher, spiritual researcher and social thinker and innovator, it is now a sustainable agricultural movement that is practiced throughout the world. Based on these lectures and carried forward and enhanced by farmers and researchers over the past 94 years, it is a set of practices and methods for augmenting these forces in compost making, sowing and growing healthy plants, animals, gardens and farms.

But more than practices and methods, it is a way of changing our relationship to our gardens and our perceptions of these life forces; how we work with them and how they work through us. It is a development of our own thinking, feeling and actions, through our powers of observation, imagination, reflection and consciousness to renew, regenerate, and sustain agriculture as we move towards the future.

Rich D’Angiolillo has been practicing organic gardening for 41 years and biodynamics in his garden for 17 years. He facilitated the local Triangle Biodynamic Group for 6 years between 2001 and 2007 and now co-facilitates the group.
