On Saturday, February 4, the North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA) will host several exciting art-making and virtual reality programs to celebrate the opening day of special exhibition Ansel Adams: Masterworks. Please see details below for inclusion in calendar listings and editorial features.
Enjoy a variety of activities inspired by Ansel Adams and photography from the permanent collection.
· Level A, Studio 1
Discover a wilder you! Be inspired by Ansel Adams to create a self-portrait that reimagines the great outdoors.
· Level B, Atrium
Experience an awe-inspiring view of Sequoia National Park photographed through virtual reality. Wear headphones and VR devices to explore 360-degree video and images simulating an Ansel Adams photograph. Created in partnership with WildEyes and LEVR Studios.
For photography fans, there are two other photography exhibitions also on view at the NCMA (both free): Panorama: North Carolina, featuring over 30 photographs by NC artists (open through February 12), and Human/Nature, featuring photographs that relate individuals to both natural and man-made environments (open through March 12).
