Durham Local to Global Women's Forum: Cities for the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women

WomenNC, a local non-profit organization dedicated to training tomorrow’swomen’s human rights advocates and advocating for women’s rights legislation at the local level, will hold its annual February event, this year entitled the Durham Local to Global Women Forum: Cities for the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). Students from North Carolina universities will be joining the Durham government to present information pertaining to WomenNC’s #CEDAWforDurham campaign. “Local-based projects, working with your mayor and county offices, is the most effective way to have a positive impact for your community members including women and girls.” - Beth Dehghan, WomenNC president.

 

This event features UNC-TV’s Deborah Holt Noel as master of ceremonies, keynote speaker Durham County Commissioner Brenda A. Howerton, an award presentation to one outstanding woman who has impacted the Durham community, entertainment from Enloe High School’s award-winning Jazz Band and presentations by WomenNC Commission on the Status of Women Fellows on their Durham-based research on gender inequality.
