Jane Austen’s Sense & Sensibility

  • Stewart Theatre 2610 Cates Avenue Raleigh, NC, 27606 United States (map)

Pre-show talk with Desiree Sanchez and Mia Self, 7pm in the Hatteras Suite, Talley Student Union.

To commemorate the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s death, Aquila Theatre breathes life into one of Austen’s most beloved works in a wildly inventive new production.  Sense & Sensibility poignantly and cleverly illustrates the effects of economic uncertainty and illuminates a world in which choices are extremely limited, especially for women. Though the stakes are high, Austen’s tale is a classic romantic comedy revolving around the lives of two sisters after the untimely and unexpected death of their father.  Seduction, courtship, love, heartbreak, and surprise abound!

This production is part of Austen 200 at NC State: This fall NC State LIVE joins forces with NCSU Libraries and University Theatre for a series of Austen-centric events from interactive video art to panel discussions, film-screenings to pop-up performances.  Stay tuned for more at live.arts.ncsu.edu.
