The Reid Family of Raleigh has turned their annual Christmas lights display into a lupus fundraiser.
“Lights for Lupus” features 50,000 LED lights, 300 computerized channels and 28 songs of many genres. Visitors can also tune into 95.9FM which has music coordinated with the light show. The following is a link to “Lights for Lupus”: https://vimeo.com/lupusnc/lightsforlupus2016.
Located at 1413 Whittington Drive in Raleigh (27614) – close to Bedford off of Falls of Neuse – “Lights for Lupus” runs now until Friday, Dec. 30: Sun.-Thurs. 5:30-9:30PM and Fri. & Sat. 5:30-11:00PM. The lights will be on until 11PM the week of Dec. 18-25. There will not be any light show if it is raining. To help minimize traffic congestion, visitors are encouraged to park in the neighborhood and walk to the display.
While this is the eighth year that The Reid Family – Byron and Robin Reid and their two sons, Dylan and Sawyer – has been doing the Christmas light show, this is the second year it is a fundraiser. Last year the light show raised more than $3,000 for the Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter.
“We have so much fun putting on the light show each year and thought it would make it even more meaningful to raise money for a cause near and dear to me and my family,” said Robin Reid who was diagnosed with lupus seven years ago. “We appreciate everyone for coming by to enjoy this fun holiday tradition while helping raise funds for lupus research and local support services for those living with lupus.”
All donations will support the Walk to End Lupus Now: Raleigh event taking place on April 23, 2017 at the NCSU Centennial Campus. It is a signature event for the Lupus Foundation of America, North Carolina Chapter (LFANC). Robin Reid was the No. 3 Walk Fundraiser in the state for 2016, raising $5,525.
Donations are not required, but are welcome. All gifts are tax-deductible. There are three ways people may support Robin Reid’s lupus fundraising efforts:
· Leave a contribution in the donation box at the house (1413 Whittington Drive)

“We are deeply honored and appreciate all the effort and creativity that The Reid Family is doing to shine a light on lupus awareness and raise funds for this cruel disease that impacts an estimated 5,200 people the Triangle area,” said Christine John-Fuller, President and CEO of LFANC. “This ‘Lights for Lupus’ display exemplifies this family’s dedication to our cause and organization, and passion in giving back to their community in countless ways.”
