Art of the Carolinas, the largest art supply expo in the U.S., will run Nov. 11-13, 2016 at the North Raleigh Hilton on Wake Forest Rd. in Raleigh, N.C. Artists from around the globe will descend on Raleigh for three days of workshops, hands-on art product trials and wholesale-priced supplies.
Hosted by Jerry’s Artarama, the expo is free and open to the public, providing students, art hobbyists and professional the opportunity to try new techniques and products to hone their skills. “There is something for everyone, from beginner to professional fine and commercial artists,” says Sharon DiGiulio, director of Art of the Carolinas operations.
Art-supply manufacturers from around the world will be participating in the expo. Not only will artists have a chance to try each product displayed, they will also be able to purchase the products at wholesale prices. The pricing is so good, several artists along the east coast will purchase supplies by the truck load, stocking up for an entire year.
New this year will be an expanded palette of paint and pastel colors, print making tools and plates, as well as fabric paints and dyes. “There are five new manufacturers represented this year,” adds DiGiulio. “Two of them will feature the hottest trend in print making and mixed media art — gel plates.”
